The current list of counselors (4/3/2008) is available here as a password protected PDF file. Contact Linda Walch for the password. The password is given to Scout Masters and appropriate committee chairs so that they can ensure that scouts are getting the Scout Masters approval before starting on a merit badge. So You Want to be a Counselor

The National Council policy for Merit Badge Counselors is that unless a person specifically registers as a Merit Badge Counselor annually they are to be removed from the list of active Counselors. This is because over the past years, National has received up to 1,000 letters per month from the surviving spouses of Merit Badge Counselors's that they are still being called by scouts.

What this means to you the Merit Badge Counselor is that you most likely need to submit a new registration form as a Merit Badge Counselor if you haven’t since June 2005. Annually you will be contacted by a Coordinator in your unit to confirm whether you are interested in continuing for the upcoming year and make changes. There is no cost for this. You need to fill out and submit Two (2) forms

On the BSA Adult Leader Application under Position Code include "42" for Merit Badge Counselor. Complete all of the leader application and both sides of the OCBSA Merit Badge Counselor Application. These go to Linda Walch of Troop 1602
